From Conference Hotels to GSF/TUM

Due to the limited service of public transport in particular on weekends, a shuttle service will be organized for transportation between the conference hotels and the audience hall at GSF and TUM.

From Airport to Conference Hotels

For an easier explanation, the information is split into two parts: from Munich Airport to Schwabing (Münchner Freiheit) and finally to the Conference Hotels.

At Munich Airport

• take either S-Bahn S1 (rapid urban railway) and leave the S-Bahn at Feldmoching; at Feldmoching take subway U2 in direction to Messestadt and change at station Scheidplatz to subway U3 in direction to Fürstenried at the same platform on the opposite track end exit at station Münchner Freiheit;
• or take S-Bahn S8 and leave at Ostbahnhof. At Ostbahnhof take subway U5 in direction to Laimer Platz and change at station Odeonsplatz to subway U3 or U6 in direction to Münchner Freiheit and exit at Münchner Freiheit.

From Münchner Freiheit the route depends on your conference hotel:

• Cosmopolitan Hotel:
  Go to the central bus station at Münchner Freiheit on street level, take bus 33 or 54 and exit at the next station Hohenzollernstraße. The hotel is close to the bus stop in the Hohenzollernstraße.
• Hotel Leopold:
  Go to the central bus station at Münchner Freiheit on street level, take bus 85 or 123 and exit at the next station Potsdamer Straße, which is opposite of the hotel.
• Parkhotel Schwabing:
  Go to the central bus station at Münchner Freiheit on street level, take bus 123 and exit at last station Alfred-Arndt-Straße, which is in front of the hotel.
  Alternatively, take subway U6 at Münchner Freiheit in direction to Garching-Hochbrück or Fröttmaning and exit at station Studentenstadt. Change to bus 43 and exit at station Alfred-Arndt-Straße, which is in front of the hotel.

From Central Railway Station to Conference Hotels

At Hauptbahnhof take the subway U1 or U2 in direction to Mangfallplatz/Messestadt and exit at the next station Sendlinger Tor. At Sendlinger Tor change t subway U3 or U6 in direction to Münchner Freiheit and exit at Münchner Freiheit. From Münchner Freiheit see description from Airport to Conference Hotels.

From Airport to GSF

Take S-Bahn S1 (rapid urban railway) from Munich Airport to downtown Munich. At Feldmoching take subway U2 and exit at station Am Hart Take Bus 294 in direction Garching-Hochbrück and exit at stop Forschungszentrum. Line 294 operates Monday thru Saturday every hour (Monday thru Friday from 5:00am to 9:00am and 3:00pm to 19:00pm every 20 minutes). No operation on Sundays and Holidays. On Sundays see shuttle bus above.

The rates for a cab from Munich Airport to GSF are approximately Euro 40,-.

From Airport to TUM

On Sunday take S-Bahn S8 (rapid urban railway) from Munich Airport to downtown Munich (18:05 or 18:25) and exit at station Hallbergmoos (18:11 or 18:31). At Hallbergmoos take bus 691 (18:34) and exit at station Boltzmannstraße (18:48) in front of the Departments of Mathematics and Computer Science. Caution: On Sundays there is just one connection to TUM at Garching!

On Monday or Tuesday take S-Bahn S8 (rapid urban railway) from Munich Airport to downtown Munich. At Ismaning take bus 230 and exit at station Boltzmannstraße in front of the Departments of Mathematics and Computer Science. Line 230 operates Monday thru Friday every 20-40 minutes. No operation on Sundays and Holidays.

From Central Railway Station to GSF

Take subway U2 in direction to Feldmoching and exit at station Am Hart. Take Bus 294 in direction Garching-Hochbrück and exit at stop Forschungszentrum. From Central Railway Station to TUM

At Garching Hochbrück take bus 291 to Garching, Technische Universität and exit at station Boltzmannstraße in front of the Departments of Mathematics and Computer Science. Line 291 operates Monday thru Saturday every 20 minutes. No operation on Sundays and Holidays. On Sundays use the shuttle bus departing at subway station Garching-Hochbrück (18:45). To get the shuttle bus use subway line U6 from Sendlinger Tor at 17:56 or 18:16 arriving in Hochbrück at 18:19 or 18:39, respecticley. U1/U2 operates on Sundas every 5 minutens between Hauptbahnhof and Sendlinger Tor.

From Downtown to GSF

Take subway U3 in direction to Olympiazentrum and change at station Scheidplatz to subway U2 in direction Feldmoching at the same platform on the opposite track end exit at station Am Hart. Take Bus 294 in direction Garching-Hochbrück and exit at stop Forschungszentrum. Line 294 operates Monday thru Saturday every hour (Monday thru Friday from 5:00am to 9:00am and 3:00pm to 19:00pm every 20 minutes). No operation on Sundays and Holidays. From Downtown to TUM

Take subway U6 in direction Garching-Hochbrück and exit at stop Garching-Hochbrück (Due to reconstruction, you have to change the subway at station Fröttmaning). At Garching Hochbrück take bus 291 to Garching, Technische Universität and exit at station Boltzmannstraße in front of the Departments of Mathematics and Computer Science. Line 291 operates Monday thru Saturday every 20 minutes. No operation on Sundays and Holidays. On Sundays use the shuttle bus departing at subway station Garching-Hochbrück (18:45). To get the shuttle bus use subway line U6 from Marienplatz at 17:57 or 18:17 arriving in Hochbrück at 18:19 or 18:39, respecticley.

A9: Nuremberg - Munich:

Northern ring, direction Stuttgart, first exit Neuherberg, from here follow signs (400 m to GSF).

A8: Stuttgart - Munich:

Route A 99, direction Salzburg, exit Neuherberg, at traffic light turn right (300 m to GSF).

A8: Salzburg - Munich:

Northern ring, direction Stuttgart, exit Neuherberg, from here follow signs (400 m to GSF).

Highways to TUM

A9: Nuremberg - Munich:

Take exit Garching-Nord and follow signs to Forschungsgelände Garching.

A8: Stuttgart - Munich:

Route A 99, direction Salzburg, change to A9 direction to Nuremberg, take exit Garching-Nord and follow signs to Forschungsgelände Garching.

A8: Salzburg - Munich:

Route A 99, direction Nuremberg, take exit Garching-Nord and follow signs to Forschungsgelände Garching.
