From Airport to Central Station (Hauptbahnhof)
Munich airport is located about 40 km northeast of the city. To reach the
city from there you can either take a cab (about DM 100,- !!) or
go by "S-Bahn", a fast urban railway (DM 13,-).
To find the S-Bahn, proceed to the central area of the airport building
and follow the signs labelled "S". Buy your ticket
at a ticket machine and don't forget to cancel it before you take
the escalator down to the train platform. Take train S8 "Richtung
München" (trains leave every 20 minutes except for the time between
1.15 and 3.55 am).
After approximately 40 minutes on the train, get off at station
"Hauptbahnhof".

From Central Station to Your Hotel
Rooms for STACS attendees have been reserved at the following hotels:
- Hotel Metropol, Bayerstraße 43 (Category 1)
- Hotel Europäischer Hof, Bayerstraße 31
- Hotel Meier, Schützenstraße 12
- Hotel ATRIUM, Landwehrstraße 59
All four hotels are within walking distance from Central Station. The
farthest is Hotel ATRIUM (about 300 meters), so you might also consider
taking a cab ("Taxi") when you arrive with your luggage.
The other three are located within 50 to 100 meters
from Central Station.

From Central Station to TUM (Technische Universität München)
(Map 2 shows the part of Munich including
Central Station and TUM)
By Subway: Follow the signs "U1/U2" at Central Station. Take the
escalator down to "U1 Rotkreuzplatz/U2 Feldmoching" (remember to
cancel your ticket ("Kurzstrecke")).
Take train "U2" (trains leave every 5
to 10 minutes) and get off at the first stop, "Königsplatz".
Leave Königsplatz subway station taking the escalator marked
"Brienner Str." and the stairs marked "Königsplatz".
When you get upstairs, follow street
"Brienner Straße" for about 100 meters and turn left into street
"Arcisstraße". After about 200 meters, before you reach street
"Gabelsbergerstraße", the last white building to your right is the
South Building of TUM. That's the building where STACS '95 will be held.
Walk: TUM is only a 15 minute walk from Central Station. Simply
follow street "Luisenstraße" until you reach Königsplatz. Turn
right into "Brienner Straße" and then left into "Arcisstraße".
The last building to your right before "Gabelsbergerstraße" is the
South Building of TUM where STACS '95 will take place.

Parking at TUM
If you come to TUM with your own car you can park at the parking lot
adjacent to the north side of the South Building of TUM (you must enter
from street "Gabelsbergerstraße"). In addition, there is a guarded
parking lot at "Barer Straße" (about 50 meters northeast of the South
Building, see Map 2) where parking costs
DM 3,50 for two hours or DM 10,00 for a whole day.
