Conference

Following an initiative from President of the Technische Universitaet Muenchen, Professor Herrmann, and the Russian general consulate in Munich, Mr. Alexander Karachevtsev, the 1st Russian-Bavarian Conference on Bio-Medical Engineering aims at providing an exceptional opportunity for Russian and Bavarian scientists to exchange their know-how and build up strong collaborations. Bavaria is hosting some of the most advanced academic and industrial research laboratories in the field of bio-medical engineering. Bavaria hosts the head-quarter of Siemens Medical, the largest European research center of GE Medical, the head-quarter of BrainLab, TomTec and many other companies providing advanced medical solutions. The Technical University of Munich has made particular efforts to create a strong medical research cluster in Munich, which already hosts many university hospitals such as Grosshadern, Rechts der Isar and Deutsches Herzzentrum Muenchen. The technical university has created a central institute for Medizintechnik (ZIMT) and a new institute for Computer Aided Medical Procedures (CAMP) within its computer science department. In addition different research institutes within the medical school and other engineering departments are strongly contributing to the field of bio-medical engineering. Many research laboratories and universities in Russia focus on different aspects of bio-medical engineering. This conference aims not only at bringing the scientist from Russia and Bavaria together, but also at creating a forum where engineers, scientists, physcians and providers of medical solutions could communicate and establish strong scientific and technical collaboration.
